Our congregation is involved in a variety of service, outreach and justice activities in Columbia. We are always welcoming new people to join this work! Recent efforts include the following:
Blessing Box (hosted on our grounds): Free nonperishable food and hygiene items for our community. Our church stocks the box every Sunday with donations from church members.
Como Mobile Aid Collective: Provides direct assistance to unsheltered members of our community. RBCC members volunteer to provide meals and take around water and other basic resources.
CROP Walk: Raising funds for hunger relief locally and around the world.
Loaves & Fishes: Free community meal every evening. Our church serves every other second Sunday.
Missouri Faith Voices, Columbia chapter: Organizing for racial and economic justice. RBCCers have been partners in housing advocacy, immigration and sanctuary work, organizing faith-related political forums, etc.
St. Francis House: Catholic Worker house and shelter. Our pastor leads the Thursday Eucharist service every other month.
The Wardrobe: Volunteer-run thrift store with proceeds going to give away show vouchers. Our church team serves every fifth Wednesday of the year.
We also collect school supplies for Bagby Community Helping Hand, provide Christmas gifts for local families through the Voluntary Action Center Holiday Program, donate food grown in our church garden, and set a goal of giving away 10% of our congregational tithes and offerings every year.
Additionally, church members and friends take care of our building and grounds by volunteering at twice annual clean-up Sundays, mowing and weeding, stocking toilet paper and paper towels, watering plants, etc.
